Over the last few years, Develo has gone through a period of impressive and meaningful growth.
We have worked on increasingly complex end-to-end eCommerce projects, grown alongside long-standing clients, and begun partnering with new teams taking on more ambitious technical challenges. These opportunities allowed us to apply our experience at a greater scale and with more depth, and they naturally shaped how Develo continued to evolve.
As we looked ahead to 2026, it felt like the right moment to reflect on that evolution with more clarity. Not a reinvention, but a considered refresh that better represents Develo today and the direction we’re heading in.
A website that reflects how we work
The aim of the new Develo website was simple. We wanted it to clearly communicate what we do, how we work, and the level of care that goes into our projects, while supporting a refreshed brand identity across the site.
That meant clearer messaging, a calmer and more confident visual presence, and a structure that feels considered rather than overworked. It also meant building something that can evolve easily alongside the business as it continues to grow through 2026 and beyond.
Why we chose Builder.io
At Develo, we’re always open to new tools and technologies, as long as they genuinely improve how teams work together and deliver strong results.
For this rebuild, we decided to use Builder.io, an AI-powered development tool, and it made a strong impression from the outset. It integrates smoothly with our Magento backend via Builder.io Fusion and Daffodil, laying the groundwork for selling modules, products, and services directly through the site in the near future.
A clear benefit was speed without disruption. Builder.io allowed us to move from build to launch much faster than usual, while still maintaining control and quality where it mattered. Early iterations were less dependent on development, enabling a more design-led approach where designers could ship production-ready layouts. Multiple people were able to work on the site at the same time, with far fewer of the complications that typically slow projects down.
Design flexibility without compromise
A major advantage of the build was the confidence it gave the team to iterate on design and content in parallel. The UX designer defined the core style sheets early in the process, establishing a clear and consistent design foundation across the site.
Builder.io also supports a closer connection between design and development through its official Figma plugin. This allows designs to be brought directly from Figma into Builder.io, where they can be converted into production-ready components and code for modern frameworks. Layout rules and structure are preserved, helping reduce translation gaps between design intent and implementation.
With those foundations in place, changes to copy, layout, and content structure could be made right up until launch, without the design breaking or becoming inconsistent. This separation between styling and content made it easier to refine messaging and make improvements without caution, while maintaining the integrity of the original design.
Reducing friction during the build
Another noticeable improvement was the reduction in friction during the build process.
Issues were identified earlier and, in some cases, resolved automatically through Builder.io’s AI tooling. This reduced time spent troubleshooting, cut down handovers between disciplines, and kept the focus on refining the site rather than unblocking it.
From a delivery perspective, this shift created a calmer build process that supports better decisions and leads to stronger outcomes.
Built for collaboration
Modern websites are rarely the result of one person working in isolation. They are shaped by designers, developers and content editors, often working in parallel and at different stages of a project.
Builder.io supported this way of working naturally. Collaboration felt straightforward rather than forced, and much of the friction that usually appears when multiple contributors are involved was removed. Instead of work being passed back and forth in stages, teams were able to move forward together.
With updates becoming visible through our existing GitHub workflow, everyone maintained a shared, up-to-date view of the site as it evolved. This reduced uncertainty and helped teams stay aligned, without slowing progress or introducing unnecessary overhead.
Looking ahead
Our new website is now live, and it feels much closer to where Develo is today, visually, structurally, and operationally.
Builder.io has been a positive addition to our workflow so far, and we’re looking forward to exploring how it can support future projects that benefit from speed, flexibility, and strong collaboration.
As ever, tools are only part of the picture. What matters most is how they are used, with care, clarity, and intention.
Whether it’s a new build, a migration or performance optimisation, we’d love to explore how we can help your business grow. Get in touch with our team to find out more.
